Since we moved into this house back in March I have yet to have a party or get together of any sort (other than the weekend Dave's family came to visit, but that doesn't count). This weekend we are having the first one, and it's an end of summer Ice Cream Party. I got Dave an Ice Cream Freezer for Father's Day and we've been having the most fun with it. I have invited several people with ice cream makers to come with their favorite kind ready to freeze. It'll be fun to try all of the different flavors - I hope.
So, I was thinking it would be fun to have a "Virtual Ice Cream Party" here on the blog. All you have to do is share your favorite Ice Cream recipe. If you don't make ice cream and don't have a favorite recipe (I'm so sorry for you), then just share your favorite brand/flavor/kind/etc. Come on, it'll be fun . . . .
I'll start.
If I am making it, I love a this vanilla recipe (it came with my ice cream maker) with any kind of mix in. So far we've done oreo cookies. This weekend we are adding reeces peanut butter cups. Yum. I am now wanting to venture out of the box and try this recipe for frozen yogurt. It looks fun - when I have the time.
If I am out and about and buying ice cream - my favorite is a Ben and Jerry's Super Fudge Brownie. I think Amelia might have gotten me started on this one years ago.
Now it's your turn:
(p.s. - Mo - if your are bored Saturday night, you should come - 6:30, my place - and don't worry about bringing ice cream - there will be plenty!!)

I would be bored & would come if I didn't have to be the social director for our ward. It's our Corn Feed or fest at 6pm that night. Dang it. I have been cravying ice cream like crazy lately. When we were in SLC I had the blizzard Thin Mint (Girl Scout Cookie)...oh man was that good. That's how evil I have been. I even have a ice cream maker that we got for our wedding. I haven't made any lately. I usually make Strawberry Sherbert or sorbet? I don't have the recipte because I am at work...but it is good. It was in the book that they gave me. Have fun at your party. We need to chat about canning & for me to come get away for a few days & see the new house & the fruit/veggie stand. It sounds like things are going good on that too. I am happy for you. Love you bunches. And have a yummy saturday night. Sad we can't come.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could come - I love icecream - especially homemade icecream. My dad made it for us all the time growing up - stopped for a few years and actually started up again this year. I want an icecream maker so bad - maybe for mother's day or something I can request one :) My dad makes a yummy creamy chocolate. He doesn't really have a recipe - he just guesses and it turns out good. I still think the Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie is the best but second place is Baskin and Robin's Chocolate peanut butter - oh yeah I want go get some now :) Oh, and third place is an Eggnog Concrete at Nielson's...mmm... Anyways, that is such a good idea on the party.
ReplyDeleteA good time was had by all - we ended up with 5 different kinds of ice cream - vanilla bean, blackberry, blackberry-raspberry, rootbeer, and our reeces peanut butter cups. They were all scrumptious. I had a scoop of each. None of us even had room for the brownies I made. Oh well, lots of leftovers for us :)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to share in another post the chips and 4 different kinds of salsa I made for appetizers. We filled up on that first - we had to eat something while the ice cream was freezing.
My belly is really full as I type this. I hope I can still sleep. Oh, and you should have come mo - you could have skipped the corn feed - I made PW's corn and avacado salsa . . . . yum.
I feel like I totally missed out on this post, I LOVE homemade ice cream, we got a machine from a garage sale, Amelia you should try KSL classifieds, my mom also gave us one that she bought before I was born and it works awesome. We just make vanilla recipe and try everything in it. I always add twice the vanilla it says and my favorite additive is fresh peaches, we are approaching peach season and I cannot wait. Yum. I'm to cheap to buy store bought so I cannot even tell you my favorite there that thin mint girl scout one sounds good, yum, might have to try that. sounds like a fun party, and yes I need to try that salsa yum
